We will begin accepting applications for the 2012 Summer Writing Intensive February 1, 2013.
The Intensive is a selective program to which students must apply. To apply, students must submit the following:
- Completed Application
- Creative Writing Sample #1: One sample of your creative writing (no longer than four pages–can be an excerpt from a longer work)
- Creative Writing Sample #2: An original writing sample in the storytelling format of your choice (poetry, fiction, memoir, etc) in which ANY ONE of the following figures prominently: the color orange; an old sweater; a suitcase; wind. (Sample should be no longer longer than four pages.)
- An official transcript from your high school
- A letter of recommendation from an English teacher or an instructor who is familiar with you as a writer
Rolling admissions begin February 1, 2013, and will continue until the program is full. Early application is recommended, as the Intensive size is limited to 20 participants. Decisions will be made within one to two weeks. All applicants will be notified via e-mail.
Pricing: The cost for the 2013 Summer Writing Intensive is $625. A $150 nonrefundable deposit is due within one week of acceptance notice; the remaining balance will be due Friday, May 10. Limited scholarships based on financial need are available and granted to students who demonstrate great writing promise.
Cancellation Policy: All cancellation requests must be made in writing. The reservation deposit is nonrefundable. A full refund, minus the reservation fee, will be issued if the request is received up to 30 days before the first day of the Intensive. Cancellations requests received within 30 days or less of the Intensive start date will result in full tuition forfeit.
