Who are you beyond your resume? What’s your story?

These are the questions college admissions officials ask as they pore over thousands of college applications each year. Because after they’ve seen all the numbers—your grade point average and college admissions test scores—they want to know who you are. Your college admissions personal statement is your one crucial opportunity to them via that most wonderfully compelling story: the story of you. (And yes, you absolutely have a compelling story to tell.)

As a seminar participant, you will:

  • Examine and discuss the personal statements of students admitted to prestigious colleges and universities.
  • Complete writing exercises designed to reveal your voice and share in vivid, clear prose those experiences that make you…well, you.
  • Learn how to build your own true story, rich with imagery and powerful with emotion.
